Maple Grove United Methodist Church originally started out as a United Brethren in Christ church. The church was built in 1892 and was dedicated on November 20 of that year. In 1946, the United Brethren of Christ denomination merged with the Evangelical Church, and Maple Grove became an Evangelical United Brethren Church.
In 1951, the church was remodeled, and Showers Corner Church (which was 100 years old at the time) united with Maple Grove, thus necessitating an expansion in order to accommodate the increase in members. Following the improvements, Maple Grove was re-dedicated in 1953 as "Maple Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church."
In 1968, following another denominational merger (this time, between the Methodist denomination and the United Brethren denomination), Maple Grove, with 120 members and an average attendance of 92, became the "Maple Grove United Methodist Church."
The Maple Grove family has taken good care of its building and its members. In November, 2012, we will celebrate 120 years of devoted service to God and the community! At the Little Church with the Big Heart, our family opens our heart to you and your family, as well. Come for a visit. We hope to see you soon!
